History
It was in 1949 that Jack Brown sold
his interest in one of the largest bakeries
in Pennsylvania and moved to Flint,
Michigan to found Brown & Sons Automotive.
With the postwar boom in the automotive
industry and the central role Flint
played in it, Jack Brown started in
on the growing automotive parts business.
Brown and Sons beginnings were humble,
Jack began by peddling parts out of
the family stationwagon and storing
parts in his garage.
In
1954 Brown & Sons made the move
to its first store and warehouse facility.
With sons George, Jim and Pete now an
integral part of the business, things
began to grow at a rapid pace. While
George and Pete peddled parts from stepvans
covering
a sixty mile radius, Jim ran
the retail and warehouse operations.
As the business continued to grow, Brown
and Sons moved to its current location
in 1970.
In the mid-eighties, Georges' sons Nicholas
and Peter joined the company full-time
to have three generations of the family
working at the same time. In 1984, a
full machine shop was added to the business,
the shop does a wide range of work but
specializes in high performance race
work, both machining and engine building.
To this day Brown and Sons has remained
a family business. Although we've come
a long way since working out of the
back of a stationwagon, the basic principles
in which we run our business has remained
the same, treat the customer with respect.
At our company it has been honesty and
integrity that has kept us in business
for over half a century. It is with
this commitment to our customers that
keeps them coming back generation after
generation. Please take the time to
